Lyle Hebert 8th Day Interview – Upper Peninsula Muzzle Loading Association

BARAGA, Michigan July 19, 2020 – Todd Pazz interviewed Upper Peninsula Muzzle Loading Association (UPMLA) president Lyle Hebert about the cancellation of the Annual UPMLA Rendezvous that was to be held July 16-18th.  With the many members and participants of the vulnerable age, concerns with coronavirus made this year’s event impossible.

The Upper Peninsula Muzzle Loading Association commits itself to “preserving the skills of our nation’s early settlers, pioneers, and mountain men in the use of muzzle-loading firearms and the equipment and accouterments that accompanied such use.”

Because the rendezvous is the UPMLA’s main annual event, the cancellation requires the organization to resolve issues such as the “expiration of continuity of memberships, annual dues, and the annual UP Championship competitions.”

Additional topics included Fall events, history of the organization, and the art in the design of modern Muzzle Loaders. The Fall plan is to still hold the Open Invitational and Memorial Shoot on Oct 3rd at the Ottawa club.
