It seems today, that all you see, is violence in movies, and… violence on TV… and violence on the news.
In the last few months, we’ve seen a journalist beheaded, the offices of a satire newspaper attacked by shooters, and just last night, an armed man entered a Dutch TV studio, holding the staff hostage and demanding airtime.
It’s always a scary world to live in when we hear about violence nearly everyday on the news, but as someone entering the field of media, I personally feel like I could not have chosen worse timing.
Often I have to remind myself of how infrequent these events actually are, something easy to forget with national media outlets running these stories on loop for days and weeks after they occur.
My thoughts go out to all the victims of these attacks, and I hope we don’t have to hear about more occuring anytime soon!
