Sunny 101.9 meets Marquette Township officials at Lions Field

Marquette Township  –  July 12, 2011  –  Marquette Township continues renovations of Lions Field this week preparing the field for the “National Noon Out” and “National Night Out” celebration Saturday August 6th 2011. Plan to be at the field from 11am till 9pm.

Tuesday morning Dennis Liimatta, Township Supervisor, joined me at the field and pointed out the Lions Filed continued improvement plan.

Tuesday Marquette Fence planned to remove old fencing and began installing new gates, a higher fence along the rear of the filed, plus a pair of new fence lines which will touch the new proposed dug outs.

Marquette Fence is replacing all of Lions Field broken fencing

Township staff will remove the old score board this week and place it near the infield as a reminder of the chalk score board history.  This score board is sure to be used again on August 6th.

Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the many events scheduled for August 6th including Free pony rides,  a free bouncy station for kids and good food. The Marquette Township Firemen will provide refreshments, corn on the cob, and a BBQ for lunch and dinner.

The days schedule is action packed…

11am – Marquette Girls High School softball will be played.

1pm – A softball clinic for kids will happen after the first game

1pm – The Texaco Country Showdown runs 1p-4p sponsored by Great Lakes Radio stations Sunny 101.9fm WKQS,  and 1033 The Country Extreme WFXD,

4pm – Live music continues

6pm – The firemen will serve BBQ dinner and a Little League baseball game

8pm – a social time for National Night Out will wrap up the evening.

So dust off those lawn chairs and come join us August 6 for a ball game,  a hot dog and some corn on the cob and some excellent acoustic music done by local artists.

The Marquette Township Fire department will cook corn on the cob, and host a deluxe BBQ
