Marquette, Michigan — When an important weather announcement is broadcast on the EAS (Emergency Alert System) we like to alert the public as soon as possible. Coming up on November 9th, 2011, at 2pm (est) the MAB tells us that you’re going to hear something quite different–but there won’t be any need to be alarmed.

According to the MAB (Michigan Association of Broadcasters) on Wednesday, November 9th, 2011, at approximately 2pm (est), FEMA and the FCC will test the Emergency Alert System (EAS) using the Presidential message code, Emergency Activation Notification (EAN). The MAB says that the EAN code has never been tested before.

According to the MAB, this test will be over 2 minutes in length. All radio, television, cable and satellite operators across the country will air the test at exactly the same time. Again, the MAB says there is no need to panic when you hear this test on Wednesday, November 9th, 2011 at 2pm (est). Stay tuned to the stations of Great Lakes Radio, Inc. as we’ll continue to keep you informed on this National EAS Test. For more information check out the MAB’s site HERE.
