Negaunee, MI – July 21, 2016 – Earlier this month, we brought you the story of Honor Credit Union’s commitment to our local veterans by matching your donations to the U.P. Honor Flight.
If you’re not familiar with U.P. Honor Flight, it’s a non-profit organization that honors our veterans by bringing them to the memorials in Washington, D.C. This “Tour of Honor” is completely FREE to the veterans. Airfare, meals, deluxe tour bus, t-shirt, and other items are provided at absolutely NO COST to the veterans.
The Tour of Honor includes not only the WWII memorial but also the Korea, Vietnam and Air Force memorials. Veterans will also visit Arlington National Cemetery to witness the changing of the guard and pay their respects to the soldiers who didn’t return.
In order to make these Tours of Honor happen, U.P. Honor Flight needs our help! Our donations make “Tours of Honor” possible for our veterans. Northern Division President Ron Lauren decided to extend the original July 21st deadline for donations to July 31st to give the community a little bit more time to help our local heroes make this once-in-a-lifetime trip.
“It’s a race against the clock to say ‘thank you’ to some of these vets,” Lauren said. “Extending the donation deadline makes sense. It gives us time to raise even more money for them.”
Stop by Honor Credit Union today and make a donation to support U.P. Honor Flight. It doesn’t matter if you’re a member or not, you can swing into the drive thru and make a donation. Donate a five or a twenty… every donation counts and Honor will match your donation up to $2,500!
