Marquette, MI  –  September 11, 2017  –  This past Sunday, Freighter View Assisted Living Community hosted Under The Big Top Family Fun Day. Opening their doors to the public, staff of the facility located in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan wanted to share how their assisted living community operates.

Activities Director and Kitchen Manager at Freighter View, Susan Michalski estimated that nearly 300 people showed up for some Under The Big Top fun. Freighter View staff — including new Administrator, Lori Smith — offered newcomers free facility tours. Festivities went on outdoors from 11a to 2p.

People of all ages were looking at rooms. Some visitors were looking for grandma, mom, dad, and others were looking for themselves. The Family Fun day was a great success, bringing new faces to the home. Approximately 75% of attendees were first-time visitors who either saw a flier or heard about Under The Big Top Family Fun Day on the radio.

Outside, families enjoyed a free lunch of hot dogs, chips, and lemonade, but the carnival wouldn’t be a carnival without the ever-popular ice cream, snow cones, and cotton candy! Fair-themed activities spread across the entire lawn. Kids jumped in the bounce house and tossed softballs at the bullseye of the dunk tank. Local mail carrier, Kathryn Connelly and prosecuting attorney Robert Stratton took turns being dunked by enthusiastic kids. A ring toss and duck pond drew some attention across the yard as well. Betty, a resident, even came out just to have her picture taken with Susan Michalski. Betty was best friends with Susan’s grandmother and absolutely adores Susan.

Everything during the event was free,  but Freighter View helped raise funds for Walk To End Alzheimer’s with a donation box and from proceeds of the dunk tank.  If you are interested in participating in the Walk To End Alzheimer’s in Marquette or Manistique, you can find more information here.

Located right off the St. Mary’s River in Sault Ste. Marie, Freighter View Assisted Living Community provides a community feel in a beautiful location.  There isn’t a better place to relocate when moving to assisted living.
