Marquette, MichiganDecember 7, 2016 – We had a great time tonight getting into the Christmas spirit at the Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Westwood Mall in Marquette.  The Sunny and WRUP, with Todd and Naomi Noordyk emceeing the night while our very own Lauren took pictures in the crowd.

The Noordyks did a great job in leading everyone in some Christmas Carols while waiting for Santa to arrive. The live band sounded great up there on the Great Lakes Radio stage. You could feel the buzz from the crowd when Santa rode in on the fire truck.  The kids in the crowd ready to get pictures and get their lists to Santa! There were worries about the Grinch showing up to attempt to steal Christmas, but thanks to the Sheriff’s Department, they crunched the Grinch’s evil plan. Santa was safe and so was Christmas.

Santa lead the count down for lighting tree, with twenty seconds on the clock the crowd was full of anticipation. When the count down hit zero the lights powered on and this years tree was revealed to the crowd. You can see the MTBA Catch the Christmas Spirit tree right from the road off US-41!

People filled inside Westwood Mall after the tree lighting to partake in refreshments with the night’s other sponsors. Honor Credit Union handed out popcorn, with BIGGBY serving free coffee, and the the MTBA serving cookies and juice.

We have Great Lakes Radio, Honor Credit Union, BIGGBY COFFEE, Westwood Mall, Super One Foods, and of course, everyone from the Marquette Township Business Association to thank for another great Catch the Christmas Spirit Tree Lighting Ceremony.
