NEGAUNEE, MI – 8/27/2014 –The Negaunee Miners girls volleyball team headed up the road yesterday to take on their MPC rival the Westwood Patriots. This was Negaunee’s third time in competition this year, but the first against the Patriots.
Both teams were pretty evenly matched as the largest win by either team in a game was only 7 points. Westwood jumped out to a lead early, winning the first game 19-25, but Negaunee was able to win the next two, including a decisive 25-22 game #2. In the third game was when Negaunee took home the biggest win, outscoring the Patriots 25-18 and claiming the victory.
Leading the way for the Miners were seniors Courtney Clickner, Hannah Laurila, & Adena Anderson. Clickner’s serve was on point and finished with the match with 9 aces under he belt. She also was able to score without serving, as she ended up having 10 kills in the game. Adena Anderson had a pretty big match defensively, tallying 19 digs. Rounding out the top three players was Hannah Laurila who assisted the Miners on 31 points!
