8th Annual Mackinac Bridge Antique Tractor Crossing Today

Mackinaw City, MI  –  September 11, 2015  –  About a thousand restored vintage tractors from all across the Midwest are in Mackinaw City this morning. It’s the Vintage Tractor Gathering and Parade that just launched at 9 am across the Mackinac Bridge.

That’s right, a thousand tractor drivers are making the trek across the Mighty Mac to the St. Ignace side of the Mackinac Straits this morning. This year, the annual crossing is “A Year to Remember”, as the tractors make the trip across the bridge on the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in New York City.

The American flags are waving high and fast all across the sea of tractors this morning. The tractors started their trek in the staging area west of the downtown Mackinaw City area on Central Avenue yesterday to line up with their respective clubs. At 9 am this morning the Mackinaw City parade started and the tractors made their way through town to get on the bridge.

Last year, it took 3 1/2 hours for the 910 tractors to travel from Mackinaw City to Little Bear Arena in St. Ignace!
