‘Hart, Harp, and Bones’ Concert
Bluesday Tuesday presents a concert with “Hart, Harp and Bones” highlighting Mississippi Delta Juke Joint Blues on Tuesday, June 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the Peter White Public Library Community Room.
Classic juke joints were often found at rural crossroads in the American south and catered to the rural work force that began to emerge after the Emancipation Proclamation. Plantations workers and sharecroppers needed a place to relax and socialize following a hard week, particularly since they were barred from most white establishments by Jim Crow laws. The blues music that evolved from earlier ragtime and boogie woogie was characterized by unique slow drag dance steps, a new style for this era.
Veteran Marquette trio, “Hart, Harp and Bones” features Bill Hart on vocals & guitar, “Fast Eddie” Consolmagno on vocals and harmonica, and Randy Seppela on bones, cajon, washboard, snare and bass drum showcasing traditional songs from the folk and blues traditions.
There is no admission charge to attend the event which is co-sponsored by the Marquette Area Blues Society and the Carroll Paul Trust Fund of the Peter White Public Library.
