Marquette, MI – October 1, 2019 – On Saturday, September 21st the community came together for what can only be described as a powerful display of “Yooper Hospitality”.
After complaining about chest pains in June, doctors determined Kevin Keopp from Pomp’s Tire had several heart attacks and needed triple bypass surgery. During the preparations for surgery Kevin had a bad reaction to the blood thinner medication which left his heart functioning at a 10th of what it should.
Between the community and the organizing parties, Super One Foods of Marquette, Superior Entertainment Center, Pomp’s Tire, and mediaBrew Communications, the support we saw during the benefit was incredible.

Today Bill Tibor and Abbie Ferguson of mediaBrew Communications were joined by Mike LaVigne, Mike Johnson, and Steve Gardner of Super One Foods Marquette, Amy Manning of Superior Entertainment, and Kurt Hollinshead and Kevin & Melissa Koepp from Pomp’s Tire for the final donations. The Koepps were presented with several checks and cash donations that totaled over $20,000, more than double our original goal!
Thank you to everyone who donated to this great local cause. Kevin has a long road ahead, but is already doing better! The latest information we have is that he is up to 30% of his heart’s normal function!
