Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette City Manager Mike Angeli joined the Sunny Morning Show today and talked about the possibility of fees being charged by the City of Marquette to allow access to Presque Isle Park.
Angeli said there is no truth to such stories that have recently circulated around the community via social media, and the city has no interest in implementing any fees or other charges to access the park or the Peter White Drive that winds around the area best known as The Island.
He said the Presque Isle Park Advisory Committee is looking into addressing vehicle parking along the drive and other issues that have increased in recent years as the popularity of the park and the Black Rocks area, in particular, has grown.
Angeli said the City Commission will be having a work session with the Presque Isle Park Advisory Committee next week to discuss these issues and others related to the park, but there are no fees in the works.
That work session will be held on Monday, April 1st at 5:15 pm at at Commission Chambers at Marquette City Hall on Baraga Avenue.
