Negaunee, Michigan – January 21, 2019 – Wow. What more can I possibly say about last week? It truly was life-changing. A complete lifestyle overhaul, if you will. Just incredible.
If you haven’t been keeping up, let me fill you in: I’ve been taking Yoga Teacher Training for the last seven months at Honor Yoga in Negaunee, learning all of the ins and outs of yoga and how to be a successful teacher. It really has been more like “Yoga College,” as I have not only been learning about physical yoga, but also the self-inquiry, meditation, written reports, etc. etc. And I wouldn’t change a single thing.
There was a one-week intensive in June 2018, six months of homework, book work, written reports, oral reports, projects, and then another one-week intensive last week. Seeing it all written out right now shows me how much I’ve put towards this, and I feel so proud and accomplished!
I still have a couple of final papers and classes to teach before my certification is official, but I feel amazing that I’ve accomplished SO MUCH for this. At first, I decided to take Yoga Teacher Training to deepen my practice, and to learn more about yoga. It’s turned out to be so much more than that for me. I’ve decided that I DO want to teach (in addition to my radio gig- don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere!).

I went through the program with eight others, plus my teacher and two teacher assistants. My teacher, Danielle Jokinen, (Owner/Operator of Minnesota Power Yoga and Leader of 200-Yoga Teacher Training) is the most incredible person I have ever met, and I don’t say that lightly. She’s amazing. I feel so incredibly fortunate and humbled to have her as my teacher, mentor, and confidant.
Brianna Salmela (Owner/Operator of Honor Yoga and Assistant of 200-Yoga Teacher Training) and Jessica Noskey (Assistant of 200-Yoga Teacher Training) deserve mountains and mountains of thanks, as well. Without Brianna, there wouldn’t have been a 200-YTT! She brought Danielle to us, and assisted every step of the way. And Jessica deserves just as much thanks, as she was there a ton and assisted quite a bit throughout the whole experience.
I am eternally grateful.
I’ll post more tomorrow about this amazing experience (all of the details!).
Keep up with me on The Sunny Morning Show weekdays 6-10AM on Sunny.FM 101.9.
