MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Michigan Senate Wednesday gave final approval to the $15.1 billion School Aid budget, which includes funding for K-12 education, community colleges and higher education.
The bill passed on a mostly party line vote of 25-12 and now goes to Governor Rick Snyder.
The measure increases statewide K-12 funding to at least $30 per pupil though districts currently getting the least amount of state aid could see as much as $60 more per student. Early childhood education would see an additional $65 million. Community Colleges and State Universities will get an average 2 percent increase.
