MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A new statewide poll shows that two Democrats in Michigan, including a former Upper Michigan lawmaker, are in a statistical dead heat with Governor Rick Snyder in head to head match-ups for next year’s governor’s race.
However, the polling also shows that the public has largely never heard of former Democratic Congressmen Mark Schauer of Battle Creek and Bart Stupak of Northern Michigan. The survey was conducted by Lansing Based Epic MRA.
Schauer is a point ahead of Snyder (39 percent-38 percent) and Stupak is a point behind (38 percent-39 percent). But the poll also shows that 75 percent don’t know who Schauer is and 56 percent aren’t familiar with Stupak.
The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.
