Marquette, MI – October 23, 2026 – This Saturday is World Polio Day, and the Rotary Club of Marquette Harbor has three events you can join in on to make a impact in Marquette.

Club President Jim Cantrill spoke about the events with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Cantrill explained that the events are the World’s Largest Polio Walk, starting Saturday at 11:00am at the Lake Superior Theatre on Lakeshore Boulevard and ending at the Marquette Regional History  Center on West Spring Street. The synchronized event marks World Polio Day by raising vital public awareness to completely eliminate polio from the globe.

He then outlined the Pints for Polio activity where local Rotary Clubs are joining forces with participating local breweries who will donate a portion of sales. All funds raised through the event will be matched 2-to-1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Cantrill wrapped up with a word about the Pumpkins Against Polio Halloween-themed costume ball Fundraiser hosted by Marquette County’s Rotary Clubs Saturday at 6:00pm at the Holiday Inn of Marquette at 1951 US-41.

It’s an adults-only costume ball featuring a DJ, hors d’oeuvres, a drink ticket, door prizes, and a 50/50 drawing.
