Marquette, MI – April 16, 2026 – The City of Negaunee is continuing to get the word out about a proposal going before voters in May to pay for repairs and updates to the Negaunee Ice Arena.
The City Council unanimously approved a plan earlier this year to put a .49-mill request on the May 5th ballot.
Negaunee City Manager Nate Heffron shared an update with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Heffron said that if it is approved, the annual millage would allow the the City to generate up to $1.25 million for a series of needed repairs.
He explained that the work includes updates to the chiller and dehumidifier systems along with upgrades to the building’s locker rooms, kitchen and bathrooms seating and parking.
