
Marquette, MI – January 19, 2026 – A WINTER STORM WARNING is in effect for Marquette and Alger Counties this morning. The National Weather Service in Negaunee Township says moderate to heavy snowfall and blowing snow will continue through the morning with accumulations of up to 6 inches.
Winds are also gusting as high as 40 mph, creating wind chills in the 15 to 25 below zero range. Travel is not encouraged at this time as there are slippery road conditions with widespread blowing of snow that is significantly reducing visibility.
SCHOOL CLOSINGS FOR MONDAY, JANUARY 19, 2025
All Marquette County Schools are closed today including Northern Michigan University. The closings also include Christ the King Preschool in Ishpeming, Father Marquette Catholic Academy, Marquette-Alger RESA and Redeemer Lutheran Early Childhood Center, all in Marquette.
In Alger County, AuTrain-Onota, Munising, Munising Baptist and Superior Central Schools are closed.
Schools are also closed in Baraga, Houghton and Keweenaw Counties, including Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College in L’Anse.
