
Marquette, MI – November 8, 2023 – Voters headed to the polls yesterday in a few Marquette County communities to decide ballot proposals and city elections.
In the Gwinn Community School District, voters rejected a school bond proposal by a vote of 1,378 NO to 865 YES.
In the City of Marquette, three seats on the City Commission went to the top vote getters, Cody Mayer with 2,026 votes, Paul Schloegel with 1,669 and Jessica Hanley with 1,609. Two seats on the Marquette Board of Light and Power went to Dave Campana with 1,863 votes and John Sonderegger with 1,546.
In the race for the Negaunee City Council, the top two vote getters were Craig Ilmonen with 410 and Timothy King with 307.
And voters in Michigamme Township passed a general operating millage by a vote of 61 YES to 39 NO.
