In order to participate in the Social District, the public must buy a specified Social District beverage from a participating business. No outside beverages will be allowed. The specialized container is intended to enforce the Marquette Social District rules. These specialized containers are all meant for one time use and must be consumed inside the expressed boundaries. Thankfully, the DDA has accounted for this and allotted extra trash bins within the Social District to accommodate for the extra trash.

Tara Laase-McKinney, Marquette DDA Executive Director, made a statement: “We are very excited to finally get the Downtown Marquette Social District up and running. We see this as a great way to add to the atmosphere of downtown. It will give those visiting the opportunity to spend a little more time here, and will encourage them to walk around the district and see all that Downtown Marquette has to offer.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be a tremendous occasion, and there is bound to be a huge turnout. Please, come support your city and be a part of the community through attending this exciting event.
