Marquette, MI – March 15, 2023 – U.S. Senator Gary Peters has announced bipartisan legislation reauthorizing three Federal Emergency Management Agency grant programs that provide federal assistance to local fire departments.
Senator Peters spoke about the legislation today with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Peters explained that the legislation renews grant funding awarded to help local fire departments address staffing needs, purchase equipment, develop training programs, and improve their emergency medical services.
He added that some of these programs are set to expire as early as this year and next, and as Chair of the Homeland Security and
Governmental Affairs Committee that oversees FEMA, he is leading the legislation to reauthorize as well as increase federal support for the programs.
