Marquette, MI – September 27, 2022 – The City of Negaunee is officially opening it’s designated downtown social district this weekend.
It permits participating businesses to sell alcoholic beverages that can be consumed outdoors within the designated Commons Area in the downtown.
City Manager Nate Heffron spoke about the new district this morning with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Heffron explained that only drinks purchased from a licensed business in specially marked cups are permitted to be brought into the Commons Area.
He added that the social district is intended to support local restaurants, microbreweries, bars, and similar businesses by supplementing outdoor service space.
Heffron said the official opening of the district is Saturday starting at 5:00pm.
