Marquette, MI – March 31, 2022 – The school year is drawing to a close in the NICE Community Schools, and Superintendent Bryan DeAugustine checked in today with a recap of a challenging year.
DeAugustine spoke about the school year today with Mark and Walt in the Morning.
DeAugustine said the year was like no other with the tragic death of a student at the Aspen Ridge School by suicide, but the district is moving forward.
He said while things will never be same after the student’s death in late April, the support of the community and the resilience of the students and staff was key in finding some sense of normalcy heading into the future.
DeAugustine also spoke of the recent voter-supported sinking fund millage for continued operation of the school, and he commented on the district reaching a three-year contract with teachers.
He added that the last day of school in the NICE district will be Friday, June 3rd.
