Marquette, MI – April 19, 2022 – Republican State Senator Ed McBroom has joined with downstate Democratic Senator Jeff Irwin in a resolution to create a bipartisan and bicameral Michigan legislative oversight committee.
Senator McBroom spoke about the committee and it’s formation today with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
McBroom explained that the eight-member committee would be made up of Senators and Representatives appointed by each chamber’s majority and minority leaders.
The Senators say similar laws are in place in more than 10 other states and their plan puts accountability and the public interest first.
McBroom added that the bill would amend the Michigan Constitution, so it would require at least two-thirds of the members of each chamber to be passed into law.
