MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Police have arrested a 28-year-old Marquette man on criminal sexual conduct charges involving a 12-year-old Marquette boy.
The investigation started last week when city police discovered a sex offender living in Marquette who had not registered his address. Police notified the residence where the man was staying of his status. The residence was also where the 12-year-old victim was living.
Soon after, the boy’s mother brought her son to police and said she believed he had been assaulted by the offender. After a series of interviews, Axel Acevedo was taken into custody and charged with 1-st and 2-nd Degree C-S-C involving a victim under the age of 13 and accosting children for immoral purposes.
The investigation is continuing and other possible victims are being looked into.
