MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Michigan Education Association is continuing to place support staff at a Western U.P. school district on their critical list.
Units are put on the critical list when efforts to reach a contract stall or when bargaining has been protracted and unproductive.
Bus drivers, custodians, maintenance, food service, paraprofessionals and secretarial staff at the West Iron County Schools have been working without a contract since June of 2010.
According to a statement from the MEA, the 30 union represented school district employees feel they need assistance from the community and MEA to reach a fair and equitable contract settlement.
