Houghton County Traffic Accident Injures Teenager

Schoolcraft County DetoursMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A section of US-41 in Houghton County’s Franklin Township was closed down yesterday due to a two-vehicle traffic accident.  The crash happened shortly before noon about a half-mile south of the Airport Road when a truck pulling a fifth-wheel type trailer was stopped on the roadway waiting to make a left turn and was rear-ended by a car driven by a 17-year-old Calumet man.

The vehicle became pinned under the rear of the trailer and the driver of the car had to be extricated by first responders.  He was hospitalized with what authorities are describing as non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the truck, a 66-year-old Houghton man was not injured.

No names have been released at this time.
