Marquette, MI –
The general use of tobacco is no longer allowed on the campus of Northern Michigan University. Starting today (Friday), the Marquette campus is officially tobacco free.
The policy prohibits all tobacco products including cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars and smokeless tobacco. It covers the university property and university-owned vehicles as well.
There are some exceptions including smoking on public sidewalks and roadways bordering the campus, personal vehicles driven or parked on campus that have the windows fully closed and where there are no minors in the vehicle and on the NMU Golf Course.
