    Negaunee – The 8th annual Swim Teal Lake for Diabetes, a 2.25 mile swim across Teal Lake, will be held on Saturday, July 30 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Negaunee beach and ending at the Al Quaal beach in Ishpeming. A safety briefing for all swimmers and volunteer paddlers will be held at 8:45 a.m.

    Special guest this year will be 2000 Summer Olympic silver medalist Coralie Simmons. Swim Teal Lake for Diabetes is a fundraiser supported by Bell Hospital for the U.P. Diabetes Outreach Network’s many projects, including Camp UPeninsulin. Camp is an annual event for U.P. children ages 9 to 15 with diabetes. Fundraisers such as Swim Teal Lake help UPDON provide free or affordable programs and projects for the benefit of U.P. residents.
