Poll Shows Race for Democratic US Senate Nomination

    MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)A new statewide poll shows that US Congressman Gary Peters has a double-digit lead over any other talked-about candidate for the Democratic US Senate nomination.

    The poll was conducted by Main Street Strategies. It shows Peters with 25 percent of the vote. Former congressman Bart Stupak gets 12 percent. National Committeewoman Debbie Dingell and former US Rep Mark Schauer get 9 percent.

    Forty five percent of the respondents however, remain undecided.

    US Senator Carl Levin announced earlier this month that he would not seek reelection.
