MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – If you are on welfare and your child has repeated unexcused absences, you’re not getting your check.
That’s what a bill introduced at the State Capitol says. House Bill 4388 would suspend welfare benefits to parents of children who are repeated truants.
It’s sponsored by House Republican Al Pscholka of Stevensville, who says they want to ensure that children go to school. He calls his bill the “Parental Responsibility Act.”
