Great Lakes Radio NewsMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)Most Michigan voters are not happy with the job Rick Snyder is doing as governor, according to a new poll.

The survey by North Carolina-based Public Policy Polling found that only 37 percent approve of the governor’s job performance, while 54 percent disapprove. That is pretty much on par with a PPP poll conducted in December when his approval was at 38 percent and his disapproval was at 56 percent.

The poll also shows the state’s new right-to-work law continues to be a major contributor to Snyder’s poor numbers, with only 39 percent of voters supporting it and 48 percent opposed.

Snyder trailed every democrat tested in hypothetical reelection contests, with Congressman Gary Peters performing best leading Snyder by 7 points at 44-37.

PPP’s telephone poll of 702 Michigan voters was conducted over the weekend. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7 percent.
