Unemployment Rates in Michigan Were Down Last Month

    Most Michigan labor markets saw a decrease in unemployment rates last monthMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)Seasonally unadjusted unemployment rates edged downward in 16 of Michigan’s 17 major labor market areas in October.

    According to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget, total employment and labor force levels increased in the majority of regions over the month. A spokesman says Michigan’s local labor markets were very stable in October.

    The Ann Arbor area had the state’s lowest jobless rate last month at 4.6 percent while the metro Detroit area had the highest at 10.5 percent.  The rate for the Upper Peninsula was 6.8 percent while Marquette County had a rate of 5.8 percent.

    Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in October was 9.1 percent.
