Investing in the future: Community Foundation of Marquette County Awards $10,000 to support Education Foundation for Marquette Public Schools 1st to Finish CSA Fund
Marquette, Michigan – The Community Foundation of Marquette County announces a $10,000 gift to the “1st to Finish” Children’s Saving Account (CSA) program established by the Education Foundation for MPS. The proactive grant is awarded from an unrestricted, endowed Fund for Marquette and will support savings accounts for first graders in Marquette Area Public Schools.
“Studies show that children with even a small savings account are more likely to attend and graduate from college, and have healthier credit as adults” said Gail Anthony, Community Foundation CEO. “In these uncertain times, the Community Foundation is proud to support the Education Foundation for Marquette Public Schools’ long-term commitment to our children’s future by providing financial support for a class of first graders”.
Children’s Savings Accounts (CSAs) are long-term savings accounts that help all children and their families build savings for the future. To help accounts grow, accountholders receive incentives such as initial deposits and savings matches from third parties. Family, friends and the children themselves also make contributions. The “1st to Finish” program will open a savings account in the name of each participating first grader. Funds can be used for any qualifying career or educational expenses after high school.
