Marquette, MI – (06/26/20) – The Iron Ore Heritage Recreation Authority is officially turning over the newly restored Carp River Kiln to the City of Marquette this Monday at 5:00 p.m. Carol Fulsher, with the Iron Ore Heritage Recreation Authority, joined Mark & Walt in the Morning today to talk about the project.

Fulsher explained that the IOHRA and the City signed a Memorandum of Understanding on July 9, 2018 that allowed the IOHRA to take the City-owned sandstones from the actual collapsed kiln along U.S. Hwy 41, raise the funds and take on the work of restoring it within two years.

Fulsher said the restoration project has been completed just in time, and now the IOHRA is to giving the kiln back to the City.
