Marquette, MI – (12/11/19) – Lawmakers in Lansing and Governor Gretchen Whitmer reached an agreement yesterday on a budget plan. Negotiations had stalled since September after Democrat Whitmer vetoed $1 billion out of a Republican-approved budget plan and then moved money around in departments. A compromise was reached yesterday to restore $573 million of the $1 billion cut.

109th District State Representative Sarah Cambensy called in to Mark & Walt in the Morning today to share her thoughts on the deal. Cambensy said she is pleased both sides came together to fund some important services in the central U.P.

She added that there are still notable exceptions, including no deal to fund a comprehensive road and infrastructure fix. The revised budget now goes to the Governor for her signature.
