10/10/14 Negaunee, Michigan- The excitment was high in Negaunee, Michigan tonight as the fans celebrated on a beautiful autumn evening in style with a tailgate party. Carl Leander Johnson the voice of the Negaunee Miners and his partner Jesse Anderson were there to bring you all the exciting rivalry action as the Negaunee Miners hosted the Ishpeming Hematites LIVE on Sunny.FM.
The Negaunee Miners received the ball first tonight against the Ishpeming Hematites, but were stopped at their own 25 yard line. The Ishpeming Hematites were stopped at their own 37 yard line on their first possession with a tackle from Negaunee Miner Zak Harsila. The first quarter was played with great defensive action from both teams to keep the score tied at 0-0.
The Negaunee Miners had the first drive of the second quarter, but would not get pass the Ishpeming Hematites defense. The Ishpeming Hematites were able to take their next drive deep into Miner territory and scored a touchdown to lead 8-0 with the two point conversion against the Negaunee Miners on Sunny.FM. The Negaunee Miners were able to take the ball into Hematite territory for the first time in the game with their next possession, but turned it over to the Ishpeming Hematites at the Hematite 20 yard line. The Hematites scored a touchdown on the first play of the possession to lead 16-0 with the two point conversion against the Negaunee Miners. The score would remain the same to end the first half of the game.
The Hematites owned the first possession of the second half of the game against the Negaunee Miners and widen their lead 22-0 with a touchdown. The Negaunee Miners took their next drive into the red zone for the first time in the game against the Ishpeming Hematites, but would not end the drive scoring in the quarter.
The Ishpeming Hematites had the first possession of the fourth quarter but the Negaunee Miners made an interception to get the ball back. The Negaunee Miners were not able to take advantage of the drive and remained trailing 22-0 against the Ishpeming Hematites. The Hematites would score another touchdown on their next drive against the Negaunee Miners to lead 28-0 late in the fourth quarter on Sunny.FM. The game ended with the Negaunee Miners losing 28-0 against the Ishpeming Hematites in Negaunee, Michigan.
