Marquette, MiOctober 20th, 2022 – Tonight the Negaunee Miners played against the Westwood Patriots at William Hart Field because of a snow out at the Miner’s field. Mark Evans and Gregg Nelson were on the scene, commentating for Marquette County’s very own Sunny 101.9 WKQS.

The first quarter started off strong, Niko Lukkarinen of the Negaunee Miners scored a 49-yard touchdown in his first play. Within a few minutes Lukkarinen scored from 15 yards out, with less than a minute in the game he was able to score again from the two-yard line. 18-0

The second quarter was extremely fast, there was lots of action on both sides but Kai Lacar of the Negaunee Miners was the only one able to score with a touchdown from a vast 85 yards! 26-0

The third quarter started off with yet another touchdown from Niko Lukkarinen at a distance of 20 yards. Easton Palomaki scored a five yard run bringing the score to 38-0.

The Negaunee Miners did not come to play this game, that is clear. If the running clock for the fourth quarter wasn’t proof enough, Chase Bonovetz’s touchdown on the Westwood Patriot’s should’ve. Weston Yesney followed with a kick into the end zone bringing the score to 44-0.

This match has proven that the Negaunee Miner’s hard work has not gone to waste, as they have achieved an undefeated season! Westwood will not continue playing this year, but you can tune in next Friday for the Negaunee Miner’s next match on Marquette County’s very own Sunny 101.9 WKQS.

FINAL SCORE 44-0
