Copper Harbor Fort Wilkins Historical State Park in Copper Harbor will host Fort Wilkins by Candlelight, a special event featuring a twilight tour and theatrical performances Saturday, July 30, beginning at 3 p.m. with a ladies tea and social in the West Barracks of the fort.
Candlelight events will run from 7:30 to 10 p.m., beginning with a dramatic performance and theatrical tour of the fort, beginning near the west entrance to the fort at the Married Enlisted Men’s cabins.
After the lantern-lit progressive theatrical tour of the fort, guests will have the opportunity to pay candlelight visits to the officers’ parlor, enlisted men’s quarters, guardhouse and post headquarters.
Participants may also visit the fort’s recreated Post Sutler’s Store, for a glimpse of a mid-19th-century shopping experience at Fort Wilkins. Light refreshments will be served in the restored 1844 mess hall.
