Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette City Fire Department is receiving a federal grant for purchase of specialized firefighting equipment.

The grant of just over $64,000 will be used by the department to buy 12 self-contained breathing apparatuses.

The grant comes through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program and is part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The grants are distributed nationally for training programs, updating equipment and facilities, and provide supplies for first-responders.
