Lansing, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Legislation introduced by an Upper Michigan lawmaker this week would assist local governments who lose tax revenues due Michigan State Tax Tribunal rulings.

State Representative Scott Dianda’s measure creates a corporate user fee that would make local governments whole when big box stores convince the Tribunal to cut their property values and lower their taxes, affecting revenue sharing in their municipalities.

The Calumet Democrat says the purpose of the fee is to recover any revenues lost when a business successfully appeals its tax value assessment.
