Escanaba, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The prosecution and defense have rested in the trial of an Escanaba man accused in the stabbing death of his wife last year.

36-year-old Kallay Batchelor faces one count of open murder in Delta County Circuit Court.

Escanaba Public Safety says officers were called to the couple’s home on the city’s north side the morning of September 3, 2014.

When they arrived they found 32-year-old Heather Batchelor had been stabbed to death in the throat with a kitchen knife.

If convicted, Batchelor faces up to life in prison.
