Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Dr. Kerri Schuiling has been named the new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Northern Michigan University.

Schuiling is a graduate of NMU and served most recently as professor and dean of the College of Health Sciences and Professional Studies.

NMU President Fritz Erickson says Schuiling knows Northern extremely well and will bring innovative thinking and creative problem-solving as provost.

She earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Northern in 1973.

She joined the nursing faculty in 1998 and was named department head a year later.

She was promoted to associate dean and director of the School of Nursing, a position she held from 2001-2011.

After leaving to become dean of the Oakland University School of Nursing, Schuiling returned to NMU in 2014 for her recent post in the College of Health Sciences and Professional Studies.
