Houghton Woman Arrested After Rollover Accident

    Houghton, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A Houghton woman has been arrested on alcohol and drug charges after a rollover traffic accident Friday with her children inside the car.

    State Police at the Calumet Post were called out just after 10:30 p.m. Friday to Airport Road near M-26 in Houghton County’s Osceola Township.

    A passerby discovered the vehicle upside down with a small child wandering outside of the vehicle.

    The passerby then was able to release a baby in the vehicle from a car seat, and the driver was able to crawl out from the vehicle on her own.

    The driver was a 34-year-old woman who was identified as the mother of the children.

    The woman was arrested on suspicion of Operating While Impaired and on marijuana possession charges.

    She was treated for injuries and then lodged in the Houghton County Jail.

    The children were released to the custody of a family member.

    No names have been released.
