Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The State of Michigan has opened funding to help areas of Marquette County recover from damages caused by flooding last fall.

Governor Rick Snyder announced the funds through the Disaster and Emergency Contingency Fund yesterday.

It allows local governments to apply for up to $100,000 in grants when federal recovery funding is not available.

The damage in Marquette County was not eligible for federal relief dollars.

The state grants can be used for repairs to public roadways or buildings, overtime for public employees and shelter supplies.
