Downstate Man Hurt In Alger Co. Snowmobile Accident

Munising, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Alger County Sheriff’s Office says a downstate Charlevoix man was injured in a snowmobiling accident this morning in Burt Township near Grand Marais.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. on Trail #88 about one mile east of Trail #42 when a westbound snowmobile hit a hole on the trail.

The man was thrown over 150 feet into a ditch and had to be airlifted to UP Health System-Marquette for treatment of injuries.

His name has not been released and there is no word on his condition.

Excessive speed is considered to be a factor in the accident.
