Sault Ste. Marie, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The suspect in a recent State Police Trooper-involved shooting in Chippewa County has been formally charged.

35-year-old Joshua Stead of downstate Bellaire was arraigned today on three counts of Attempted Murder, one count of Assaulting a Police Officer Causing Injury, one count of Malicious Destruction of Police Property, and one count of Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer.

Stead was shot by police on November 21st after a high speed chase and an alleged domestic violence incident.

He was arraigned in Chippewa County District Court via video from his hospital room.

He faces a preliminary exam on December 15th.
