Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter has launched their effort to raise funds for a new facility.

The “Imagine the PAWSibilities” Campaign for an Animal Community Center hopes to raise $3.7 million to build a new facility in Sands Township, next to the county fairgrounds.

UPAWS says it would quadruple their current space in Negaunee Township.

A $100,000 challenge gift has been made which will match every dollar given to the Campaign for an Animal Community Center now through December 31st.

Groundbreaking is planned for sometime next year.
