Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Keweenaw Community Foundation, a philanthropic agency serving Houghton and Keweenaw counties, has started a new fundraiser.

The program is called the Keweenaw Gold Club, which is comprised of 20 community members.

Each member has purchased a natural stone tile in the name of an endowment fund, and new tiles will be introduced annually.

The commemorative tiles are representative of 12 mines within the Keweenaw.

This year’s tile pays homage to the Copper Falls Mine in Keweenaw County and the 2016 tile will represent the Clark Mine in Copper Harbor.

The foundation says the fundraiser has raised more than $4,500 so far for designated community funds.
