Kayaker Rescued From Lake Superior In Marquette

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Responders with the Marquette City Fire Department were called out to the west side of Presque Isle Park in Marquette Saturday afternoon on a report of a kayaker in distress.

Crews arrived on the scene just after 4:15 p.m. and could see the kayaker in the water about a ¼ mile off shore, being assisted by two other kayakers.

Authorities say the kayaker in the water and was wearing a life jacket.

Three fire rescue swimmers went into the water and were able to assist in returning the distressed kayaker safely to shore.

The unidentified kayaker was checked on scene, but was not hospitalized.
